Hello all, I am new to the business side of production and the computer set up. So I am also new to Dolibar. From all I can tell being a user of similar type of systems this has everything I could want as a new manufacturing company. One of my educational tasks I have run out of ways to approach and hoping someone can help me out with this.
I purchase raw goods in sheet form. 12 x 24. and consume during production by the sq inch. I can not figure out how to do that. I have looked at creating a the BOM and can not see that option, just the whole sheet as it was purchased. I looked to change the way the purchase is recorded but can not see how to accomplish that either.
You might want to consider looking at your 12 x 24 sheet as 288 square inches instead of one sheet that you are parsing off. As you consume the sheet, you would reduce your inventory by the square inch.
I hope this helps.

That is indeed a good way forward. And if you need to keep track of how many square inches are left from each sheet in your warehouse, you can use the Lots functionality (Lots and Serials needs to be activated).

That is what I had attempted to do. I can not figure out how to “purchase” by the square inch. It feels like a simple thing that I am missing
Lots and serials work with purchase? I honestly did not look into that as I am not familiar with the subject.
It is in fact simple. Your large sheet [12x24] would be purchased not as 1 unit but 288 units. You can define the length x width [1" x 1"] of your product as well as the area [1"sq] in your product setup.
As you use the square inches up in your BOM, the number of square inches will be reduced accordingly.
If you have wastage, you would set your BOM to consume 1.XXX of your units to approximate your waste over time or you could make periodic journal entries to reflect the waste to keep your inventory mostly correct.
Again, I hope this helps.

you may buy one sheet and start consume 0.003472222222222 in the bill of material
