Definition of "intervention"

Being new to Dolibarr I’m having difficulty understanding some of the terminology and will likely ask for a definition from time to time.

Can someone help me understand what an “intervention” is in the context of Dolibarr?

Intervention means that you send someone on customer site to perform a work.
