is it possible to add a single item in stock to two different product numbers?
E.g. we sell a license key with our software (e.g. as “License Key”) but in addition we have the same license keys as replacement parts, when a license key is broken (e.g. “Replacement Key”) but both would need a stock movement for the same item.
hmm, what if you used the manufacturing module? and let the vendor license be a part - the only part for 2 different products? the license directly and the replacement license?
The additional problem is, that the serial number is engraved on each license key. So whenever we sell a license, a specific license key is taken from the available and listed keys with its correct LOT number.
When an existing key at a customer fails due to a hardware defect, we have to take the same kind of license key from stock but have to declare it differently on the Shipping Sheet and Invoice.
I tried to use the products “set” functionality.
But this does not work.
When I add the License Key Item containing the serial/LOT number to another item, the serial number of the set item (license key) is not shown and not asked for when creating the shipping sheet.
It says that one of the elements is needed, but I can not select any from the warehouse.
I would have said that a product with the lots activated should suffice for your need.
I have one product and i do the stock movement by creating the proper stock movement for the lot number. Then when you do a shipment it will require the lot number to be able to move the stock
It may help to change the product from the unique system number to the charge number system.
Then you can have several “identical serial numbers”.
The distinction between a real license and a replacement license can then be handled in different ways.
Either make a note in the notes or enter it via an extra field in the product lots module or use different schemas for the “serial numbers”.
