I know its possible to see google calendar events in dolibarr if you get the google module, but is there a way of doing the opposite and displaying dolibarr agenda in google calendar, so that I can see the events etc. all on my google synced smaryphone?
Yes. Take a look at module agenda setup, the feature “export”.

By the way, is there a way to just provide the url for the calendar in google calendar import so that the process is done automatically, or will I have to manually downlaod and import each time?

Yes, select the “Export calendar” tab from the “Events and agenda module setup” area, look under the “Key to authorize export link” parameter and click the refresh button near the box to the right.
Then look near the bottom of that page and you will see a sentence with something like " An export link to vcal format is available at following link:" from there copy the link provided and import into your Google calendar by clicking the ‘+’ sign under “Other calendars” and selecting “From URL” on the drop down. Paste your link there.
